Thanks to Pastor Ulf and the good people of First Lutheran Church for their invitation to us at St. Thomas to participate in a very impressive and educational Christian Passover celebration on Maundry Thursday.
The service was filled theological history and the Seder meal was informative in its relationship of the various dietary to the familiar Passover/Easter stories.
We then joined the First Lutheran congregation in the church sanctuary for the stripping of the altar for Good Friday. The overall experience was quite moving.
As I reflect on this very worthwhile experience, I proudly note our own parishioners many fellowship efforts here at St. Thomas. In addition to the coffee hours, brunches, and lunches we sponsor and invite all to attend, we sponsor Sunday Suppers and fund-raising activities to support those less fortunate than we are blessed to be. I'm thankful to our Lord for all at St. Thomas who gives of themselves so unselfishly. But we must continue and we can do better. We need to reach out to the community with continued evangelism efforst to foster our own growth and resultant increased support to our community and world at large. May this be a challenge to all of us for 2008.
